How to determine if an ticket concerns Classroom Technology

Read this before assigning a ticket to "VUIT Classroom Technology"
This is an FAQ
- Classroom Technology has limited access to certain rooms and systems and will pass back tickets that are outside that scope
- Ask the following questions before assigning a ticket to Classroom Technology for maximum efficiency
- Please include as much detail in the ticket as possible
- If the answer is "NO" to any of the following questions, DO NOT assign to "VUIT Classroom Technology"
Q1: Is this request for a Classroom or Meeting Space?
- There are AV systems in rooms that aren't monitored by VUIT Classroom Technology such as Student Centers and Office Spaces. If IT can't access it, IT can't assist in it.
- If you aren't sure if it's a classroom or not, a list can be found here (KB Article 373).
Q2: Does this request involve a built-in device?
- External devices such as OWL cameras, USB controllers, and peripherals are may not be compatible with the existing systems if they are not provided by VUIT.
Q3: Is the computer functioning outside the classroom environment?
- Any computer-based issues with room PCs, Macs, or a BYOD device will need to be resolved before a room can be considered faulty.
- AV recommends a full restart of any device that is experiencing chronic issues.
Q4: Is the computer on and connected to the presentation system?
- AV is capable of remote troubleshooting ONLY if the concerning device is actively presenting.
- Confirm the device is powered on.
- Confirm device is plugged in/connected wirelessly as applicable.
When to Assign ticket to VUIT Classroom Technology
- The request is for a classroom or conference space.
- The request is directly related to a VUIT provided device or system.
- The device in question is otherwise on and functioning.
Assigning non-AV related tickets to VUIT Classroom Technology can cause them to get lost or significantly delayed. When in doubt, ask.
