OneVU: Additional Security Methods

Purpose

To further strengthen our identity and access management posture, we are implementing additional security methods within Okta.

Target Audience

  • Vanderbilt University Community

    • Faculty and Staff

    • Undergraduate Students

    • Graduate and Professional Students

Prerequisites

  • You must have an active OneVU account.

Description

These enhancements, including support for hardware keys like biometrics and other phishing-resistant authenticators, are designed to provide stronger protection against unauthorized access, especially for sensitive systems and high-privilege accounts.

By layering security, we reduce reliance on passwords alone and ensure a more resilient defense against modern threats such as phishing, credential theft, and account compromise.
