How to Upgrade to Windows 11

The upgrade can be installed in the background, allowing you to continue working. The upgrade installs the new operating system and automatically migrates your applications, data, and settings. When the installation is complete, a reboot will be necessary and can take up to 1 hour to complete.

Please follow these instructions to upgrade:

  1. Find the Software Center application from the Start Menu or Applications list in Windows.
  2. Once you have opened Software Center, select the Applications tab option on the left.
  3. Click the Windows 11 upgrade item from the list, click Install.
  4. You can continue to use your computer as normal while it downloads in the background; you may close or minimize the Software Center.  Please do not shut down, place in sleep mode, or change networks while the download occurs.
  5. After Windows 11 has finished installing, you will need to reboot your computer. Click Restart from the Software Center or manually reboot your computer. The reboot will take up to 1 hour to complete and your device will NOT be usable during this time.
