OneVU: New Mobile Device Setup

Purpose

This article provides instructions for adding a new mobile device and removing your old mobile device in OneVU/Okta Verify.

This article provides step-by-step instructions for adding your new mobile device to OneVU/Okta Verify.

Resolution or Procedure Steps


Access OneVU if You Have Your Old Device and Need to add a New Mobile Device

  1. Navigate to OneVU Account Settings. [ https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home]
  2. Log in using Okta Verify on your old mobile device.
  3. Under Security methods, select Manage security methods.
  4. Next to the Okta Verify icon, click Set Up Another.

Access OneVU if You No Longer Have Your Old Mobile Device

Note: If you have not previously set up your SMS Recovery Factor in your Okta Verify account and do not have access to your old mobile device, you will need to contact the VUIT Help Desk to reset your Authenticators. Without SMS the following instructions will not work.

  1. Navigate to OneVU Account Settings. [ https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home]
  2. Enter either your Email or VUnetID and click Next.
  3. On the login screen, click Verify with something else.
  4. Select Phone to receive a verification code.
  5. Enter the code and click Verify.

Remove your Old Mobile Device

Important: Set up your new mobile before removing your old one to avoid login issues.

  1. Navigate to OneVU Account Settings. [https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu/account-settings/home]
  2. Log in.
  3. Under Security methods, select Manage security methods.
  4. Under Okta Verify, select the device you want to remove.
  5. Click Remove next to the old device.
  6. Select Password, enter your password, and click Verify.
  7. Your old mobile device will now be removed.

 

Additional Information

  • Always maintain at least one active recovery method (phone or email) to avoid being locked out of your account.
