OneVU: Okta Verify Fastpass Setup

Purpose

This article provides step-by-step instructions for setting up FastPass on your device.

Description

Okta Verify FastPass provides a secure, password-less login experience for Vanderbilt users. With FastPass enabled, you can authenticate quickly using Windows Hello (PIN or biometrics) instead of entering your password each time you log in.  

Resolution or Procedure Steps

Step 1: Start Setup

Open Your Okta Verify Application:  

  • Locate and click the Okta Verify icon. 
  • Click Get Started.  

Note: On Windows machines, you can find the application using your Search feature.  
For Mac users, the application will be running in the system tray.   Right-click the Okta icon in the system tray and select Open Okta Verify. 
 

Step 2: Enter Base URL

Step 3: Sign In with Your Vanderbilt Account 

  • A browser page will open. 

  • Enter your Vanderbilt email address or VUNetID, then click Next

  • Authenticate using an existing two-factor authentication method (PIN, biometrics, etc.). 

  • Press Enter to continue. 

 

Step 4: Enable device Biometrics (Windows Hello Authentication or Apple Key Chain): 

  • The Sign In page will appear.  

  • Click Enable.  
     

Step 5: Complete Enrollment 

  • Once the setup is complete, your account information will display in Okta Verify. 

  • Your device is now successfully enrolled with FastPass. 


Logging in with FastPass 

When signing into OneVU

  • Select Use Okta Verify FastPass authentication. 

  • Authenticate using your Windows Hello or Apple Key Chain   

  • If biometrics were set up, you would be prompted to login with PIN or biometrics. 

You will be securely signed in without needing to enter a password. 

 

Additional Information

  • Always maintain at least one active recovery method (phone or email) to avoid being locked out of your account.
