This article provides information about the “GET app,” its benefits, where to get it, and how to transfer to a new device. 

What is the GET app?

GET allows faculty, staff, and students to manage their card by adding funds, view account balances, view transaction history, and you can even order food online from partner restaurants. They can even load their card on their Apple or Android device.

What are the benefits of using the GET App?

With the GET app and an NFC enabled smartphone, the GET app can be used just like a VU Commodore Card:

  • Access doors using your phone with card readers

  • Pay for meals

  • Print from CampusPrint enabled Multifunction Printers

  • Verify your identity with the Tech Hub

Transferring your GET app to a New Device  

Before transferring GET to your new device:

  • DUO must be set up on the new device.

  • Remove your VU card from the GET app on your old device.

    • See Option A below

  • If you no longer have your old phone, you should disassociate it from your Google or iCloud account.

    • See Option B below


Option A - If you obtained a new phone or watch and wish to add the card to it, remove the card from your old phone or watch. Once removed, you may add the card to the new phone or watch. 

iPhone

  1. Open your Apple Wallet

  2. Select the Commodore Card

  3. Tap the ... in the top right corner

  4. Tap Remove this Card

Android

  1. Open the GET app

  2. Tap the words Mobile ID Enabled

  3. Tap Uninstall

  4. Tap Confirm


Option B - If the old phone or watch is no longer accessible, you may remove it using your new iPhone or your iCloud or Google Account.

Using your NEW iPhone (Apple Users)

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone

  2. Tap your name

  3. Scroll and look for your old phone or watch. If it is still there, remove it. 

  4. Once the device is removed, open GET and add your card.

iCloud (Apple Users on a Computer)

  1. Login to iCloud.com from your computer

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Look for the My Devices section

  4. In the list of devices, remove whichever is your old phone.

  5. Once the device is removed, open GET and add your card.

Google Account (Android Phones)

  1. Log in to Google

  2. Click on Manage your Google Account

  3. Click on Security

  4. Click on Manage Devices

  5. Click on More Details

  6. Click Sign Out
