How to Reset an Expired VU Password

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to show how to reset an expired VU password as well as how to address common issues that may occur during the password reset process. Additional steps are listed for resetting a VUGmail password.

This article explains how to reset an expired VU password.

Procedure

  1. From a browser, go to  https://onevu.vanderbilt.edu Sign-In Page.

  2. Log in using your @vanderbilt.edu email or VUnetID and click Forgot Password.

  3. Click "send me an email."

  4. Once you receive the password reset email, click the link. 

  5. On the same screen where you clicked "send me an email," click "Enter a verification code instead."

  6. Type in the code and click "Verify."

  7. Next, type in a brand new password. Do not re-use an old password or use a password that contains your name or VUnetID. Your password must meet the password requirements at the top of the reset screen. 

  8. Re-enter your password and click "Reset Password."

  • If you are not able to sign in due to a forgotten or incorrect password, we will need to verify your identity and re-authenticate your account.
