How to Reset an Expired VU Password

Purpose

The purpose of this article is to show how to reset an expired VU password.

This article explains how to reset an expired VU password.

Resolution or Procedure Steps

1. Click this link to reset your password, signing in with your current VUnetID and password: VU Identity  .

2. If you can complete the process, please allow one hour for your VU email and Duo accounts to be re-activated. 

3. If you are not able to sign in, we will need to re-authenticate your account.  

• To re-authenticate your account we will first need to verify your identity.

  • We can help via the following options:

    • Please call us at (615) 343-9999

    • Click the chat button in the lower right-hand corner of this page.

    • Place a Password Reset or Password Expired Service Request.

  • When prompted by your technician, visit https://idm-identity.app.vanderbilt.edu/identityiq/external/registration.jsf#/register 

  • When you click on the re-authentication link above, you will need to enter your VUnetID. Follow the prompts to set your new password.

    • Make sure the new password follows the Password Requirements.

    • Please allow up to five minutes for your password to become active.

4. To change a VU Gmail password: 

• Please go to: VU Identity  

• Click the 3-line or “waffle” icon in the top left near "Home." 

• Open End User Tools and select Set VU Gmail Password.

• Enter and set your new password. 

• If you are not able to create a new password, please see step 3 above.

• Keep your VU password current.

• Pay attention to reminder emails.

• VU passwords must be reset annually.
