A VUnetID is a unique identifier assigned to each student, faculty member, or staff member who wants to access the network and systems hosted by Vanderbilt University and its trusted vendors. Think of it like a digital "passport" that grants you access to various university resources and services online.

Here are some ways a VUnetID is used:

  • Campus Network Access: Your VUnetID serves as your user name for logging into the vuNet network, which provides secure internet connectivity across campus.

  •  You'll use your VUnetID to access various VUIT services, such as:

    • Vanderbilt University's Single-Sign-On (SSO) portal.

    • Email (Vanderbilt email accounts)

    • File storage (e.g., Box, OneDrive)

    • Online applications and software (e.g., Microsoft Office 365)

  • Campus Computing Resources:

    • Your VUnetID is required for accessing campus computing resources like computer labs, printers, cloud platforms, and shared folders.

  • VUIT Support: When you need technical assistance or troubleshooting help from VUIT's IT support team, your VUnetID will be used to identify your account along with any related accounts.

In summary, a VUnetID is a crucial part of the Vanderbilt University identity and network infrastructure that allows students, faculty, and staff to access various university resources and services online.
