The purpose of this article is to provide connection instructions to the vuNet wireless network.

Prerequisites
Description
vuNet is the secured wireless network for use by Vanderbilt faculty, staff, and students. Access to this wireless network requires an active VUnetID and ePassword. Your device should see vuNet as a network option when in range and will automatically connect once your device is configured following the steps outlined in this article.
Resolution or Procedure Steps

Navigate to wifi.vanderbilt.edu

Select "I have a VUnetID"

Select "Connect Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone"

Select your operating system from the drop-down menu toward the bottom of the page

Select "Join Now"

A file (the wrapper) will be downloaded to your device. Once downloaded, click and open the wrapper file.

Accept the User Access Control (UAC) prompt
Common Issues/Troubleshooting

No available networks for on-boarding.

Can't connect due to a certificate issue.

Error during vuNet certificate request.

Mobile devices running Android 11 or other mobile operating system issues.

Apple/MacOS connection issues.
Should there be difficulty connecting to vuNet, try the following troubleshooting steps:

Disable WiFi on your device, and re-enable it.

Restart your device and try connecting again.

Additional Information
Devices such as routers and wireless printers require special precautions in order to not cause wireless interference and degrade network performance. VUIT advises against connecting private routers and access points; however, for more information regarding how to disable certain features please contact the help desk.
